Benefits of Camellia Oil

Benefits of Camellia Oil

Hey beautiful! Do you have rough patches on your elbows or knees? Do your cuticles seem to dry up just minutes after applying lotion? Have you struggled to find a light moisturizer that actually works? If your skin is like mine and needs a little extra TLC, you might be interested to hear about one of my favorite face oils: Camellia oil.

Camellia oil is also called tea seed oil because it comes from the seeds of the tea plant, Camellia japonica. (In Japan, they call it Tsubaki.) The leaves are dried to make tea, and the seeds can be cold-pressed to extract the oil. You probably already know about all the great benefits of drinking tea, well, guess what? Camellia oil offers all those benefits and more. We’re talking loads of healthy fats, nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

Camellia oil is already very popular in Asia — it’s been a top beauty secret of Japanese Geishas for centuries — but it is now available all around the world.

One of the reasons Camellia oil does such a fantastic job of making your skin supple is that the tiny molecules allow it to penetrate deep into the lower layers of skin, leaving no oily residue on the surface. It also promotes new cell growth. Use it on your knees, elbows, heels, anywhere you have dry skin. It does a great job on acne scars, and you can even use it on your tummy after pregnancy to repair stretch marks. Fine lines and wrinkles disappear, and your skin will look younger and healthier.

Another great use for Camellia oil is on your hair. Bye-bye dandruff, split ends and breakage. It’ll give your colored, permed or heat-damaged hair new life.

Camellia oil is over 80% oleic acid, which is an omega-9 fatty acid. Yeah, I know neither of those sound exciting, but they are. Oleic acid is what makes olive oil a superfood, doing amazing things like lowering blood pressure and absorbing free radicals (translation: major anti-aging qualities). Oleic acid will make you want to say Ole!

Why I love Camellia Oil

  1. It’s chock-full of antioxidants. You can think of oxidation of your body as breaking down your nice, shiny self and turning it dull and old. Free radicals are another one of those things you don’t want running around inside you. Antioxidants fight against this problem, slowing down oxidation and protecting your cells from damaging free radicals.
  2. It’s light, non-greasy, and readily absorbed into the skin. Do you enjoy the feeling of wearing a heavy, oily mask on your face? Neither do I, and that’s why Camellia oil is my go-to moisturizer. Light as a feather and fragrance-free, your face will feel young and healthy again and so will you.
  3. It’s extremely high in oleic acid. (over 80%!) Olive oil is high in oleic acid too and that’s why it’s an old-world remedy for dry skin. But Camellia oil has more oleic acid than olive oil, which means it gives even better results. Between its anti-inflammatory properties and the fantastic job it does of locking in moisture, your skin will radiate health.
  4. Great for acne-prone and sensitive skin. Because it is non-comedogenic (that’s a fancy way of saying it won’t clog your pores) and anti-inflammatory, Camellia oil is the perfect choice for all types of sensitive and acne-prone skin.
  5. It can also be used on cuts and scrapes to speed healing. This goes back to reason #1. Vitamin E is one of those super-duper antioxidants that speeds healing and promotes new cell growth, which all adds up to little to no scarring.
  6. It’ll do amazing things for your hair, too! Your shining face needs shiny hair to match. Camellia oil tames frizzies and flyaways, leaving your hair shiny, soft and healthy-looking.
  7. Don’t forget your cuticles. You can rub in a few drops of Camellia oil directly into your nails and cuticles, or mix it with your favorite moisturizer for your hands, feet, and whole body.
  8. Get ready to see your skin glow. Mix it with your favorite foundation for a fresh, dewy look. Need I say more?

Our Camellia oil  is imported from Japan and bottled in the US and is 100% USDA Certified Organic.

How to Use Camellia Oil

For best results and maximum moisture, apply Camellia oil to warm, clean, freshly-washed skin or hair.

For your beautiful face:

Gently apply a few drops onto your clean face and neck for glowing, radiant skin. You can also add Camellia oil to your favorite skin care product.

For your gorgeous hair:

Wash and towel dry, then rub a few drops into your palms and work your way from scalp to tips. Don’t forget to spend extra time on the ends as they often need special attention. Camellia oil works great on processed hair, whether it’s been permed, dyed, or spent too much time with the blow dryer.

For your other wonderful parts in need of extra love:

For nails, elbows, knees, etc., gently rub in a few drops after a warm shower or bath. Apply twice daily, if needed.

Doesn’t get much easier than that. With Camellia oil, you’re ready to glow.
